Dr. Johnson was there.
On the other hand there is at least
equally good reason for thinking that the real
mischief lies with Dr. Bell, a local practitioner, and
with his wife (who was herself previously a nurse).
Dr. Bell wanted the job himself; they resented it
being given to another tried to get up a boycott of Dr. Johnson on his arrival and I fancy pre-
judiced or tried to prejudice the nursing staff
against him.
In these circumstances it is dif-
ficult to ascertain on which aide truth lies and
very likely there is some on each side.
if you
have any private and impartial information and could in confidence give me it and its source I
should be glad. But I dont think Pollock is in-
partial. He is pro bello.
